Joeun Aatchim (b. 1989) was born in South Korea. She graduated from New York University in 2014 and is a current MFA candidate (2017) in Visual Arts at Columbia University. Aatchim is an interdisciplinary artist whose interest lies upon visualizing literature, fallibility of artistic research and the dilemma between the original and the replicas, in both art and culture at large. She works with multimedia such as writings, printmaking, mosaics, ceramics, audio-visuals and performance. Through her Illustrated lecture performance with Dubbing and Ventriloquism, she illogically recounts her issues with the relationship between the artist and her work, provoking queries about authorship, disembodiment, and the sincerity of the voice.
