Hu Qingtai, born in 1985 in Heilongjiang Province, China and currently based in Beijing. He received his BA degree from the New Media Department at China Hubei Academy of Fine Arts in 2008.
In his artworks, Hu mainly focuses on the relationships between human beings and objects, as well as those between human beings. His works put pressure on the notion of creativity that often clouds people’s understanding of artists and artworks. He works with a range of mediums, including performance, video, sculpture, and painting.
His works have appeared in a number of exhibitions, which include Copyleft: China Appropriation Art at Power Station of Art, Shanghai (2015); Inside Out at K11 Art Village, Wuhan, China (2015); Polyphony II at the Art Museum of Nanjing University of the Arts, Nanjing, China (2014); The Sociology of Oneself at Eslite Gallery, Taipei (2014); The 8 of Paths at Uferhallen, Berlin (2014), among others.
